LIGHT FANTASTIC MK 2007

Light Fantastic premiered in Milton Keynes on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th October 2007 and the concept was finally a reality, after some three years of promotion and planning.

The inaugural event attracted many thousands who attended the free public event and were treated to a festival of light and sound in the heart of Milton Keynes.

Highlights of the event were the illuminated parade, organised by Festive Road and featuring community groups including Madcap, Starlight Samba Band, Wolverton Lantern Committee, Activ8 (MK Youth Theatre) and Juliet Ratnage School of Performing Arts. Other spectacles included the Heliosphere, jaw-dropping French aerial act Transe Express and an amazing Son et Lumiėre show, created by some of the UK’s finest technical production companies.

Grateful thanks go to the main event sponsors: Milton Keynes Partnership, thecentre:mk and Midsummer Place, together with all the other local businesses and media who supported the event in so many different ways.

WHAT THEY SAID…
“I would like to congratulate you for organising this event. My wife is French, we love the Cirque du Soleil and the street theatre which is quite common over there, perhaps Milton Keynes could have its own Puy de Fou!.” - Barrie Lyman
“I just wanted to thank you for organising this fantastic show. I have often bemoaned the fact that MK doesn’t have enough free cultural events, and in putting on this one, I think you have started to redress the balance.
Brilliant stuff – quite magical – many thanks.” - Lesley Gowers

“What a fantastic event! Something that all who saw it will remember for the rest of their lives. Many thanks to all who made this happen, and here's hoping it's the first of many.” - Jack Taylor

“We have just come back from the festival and we wanted to say how much we thoroughly enjoyed it. There is so little of this in this area. We just wanted to let you know that we very much appreciated the lovely spectacle and all the hard work that went into it.” - Natalie Dixon
